Maya studied acupuncture, herbology, Tui Na massage, as well as Medical Qi Gong and Tai Qi at Five Branches University, a college and clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Santa Cruz, California. She also was an intern in hospitals in the Zhejiang College of TCM in Hangzhou, and in the Chengdu University of TCM in Sichuan, China. She holds a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is a California Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbologist.
From 2006 to 2008, Maya had a private practice in Barcelona, and also worked in an acupuncture clinical trial focusing on back pain as well as oncology in the Hospital de Mataró in Catalonia, Spain.
Maya then moved to Nevada City to practice acupuncture at the Lotus Health Center in Grass Valley, and also practiced part-time at the Cambiati Wellness Program, a weight loss detox and cleanse program in Walnut Creek. She then managed her own clinic, Radiance Healing Arts of Nevada City, a collective of practitioners in various disciplines ranging from Hypnotherapy to Tibetan Medicine. She now shares a practice with an osteopath in Nevada City, and volunteers monthly in the Nevada City Free Health Care event.
She has worked as a volunteer in a non-profit clinic in Bali Indonesia, doing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for pregnant women, children, and babies. She has also done volunteer work in Europe, India, Mexico, and Peru.
She specializes in musculoskeletal pain management, respiratory conditions, digestive issues, women’s health, prenatal and postpartum care, and spiritual-emotional imbalances. She also offers Five Element Acupuncture, and facial rejuvenation.
